The leadership of Meta Platforms revealed its plan to construct AI-powered humanoid robots that will help people with domestic chores through its strategic effort.
Under the guidance of Marc Whitten, who formerly led Cruise as CEO, the team at Reality Labs hardware division of Meta seeks to develop these humanoid robots. Meta focuses on developing advanced AI in combination with sensors and software for robots manufactured by other companies instead of releasing robots under its Meta brand. The company talks with robotics manufacturers Unitree Robotics and Figure AI to create joint possibilities. Meta now engages in direct market competition with Tesla along with other companies that develop humanoid robots for home use.
The PARTNR program at Meta supports ongoing research efforts to establish successful human-robot cooperative systems. The initiative explores how people can combine efforts with robots for domestic activities, from cooking to cleaning tasks. Through PARTNR, Meta provides both a training benchmark including 100,000 tasks together with human demonstration datasets that successfully trained AI models while using Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot for testing purposes.
The company demonstrates its dedication by uniting AI and robotics with everyday life through its current augmented and virtual reality technologies, which improve humanoid robotics performance in home environments.
