While the world races to conquer the AI model and privatize it, the UAE has decided to create and launch K2 Think, the world’s most advanced open-source reasoning model.
It comes from the mind of President Eric Xing of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI).
The model will supposedly be leaner and smarter, often outperforming models larger than it.
The release of this model signifies a great shift, one that has been a long time coming. The UAE wants to become a central hub of technology. Now that the UAE has become one of the most advanced places to be in, this shift seems natural.
And entering the AI race with the claim of creating the most advanced open-source reasoning model is well within their scope.
The government and royal family of the UAE have made tech their linchpin, and given their record, it might pay off.
The model will be released by G42 and the MBZUAI this coming week.
