Copilot’s new upgrade is a 180-degree shift and offers capabilities that hope to rival ChatGPT and Gemini.
Last week, Microsoft celebrated its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, the tech giant unveiled new features for Copilot.
Microsoft’s purpose behind this strategic move was to instill AI capabilities comparable to ChatGPT and Gemini’s.
These tech powerhouses have been in relentless competition with respect to AI models. Each organization wants its latest model to be better and faster. And it’s what Microsoft is trying out with Copilot’s latest version.
From remembering a user’s preferences from a past conversation to making decisions for them, it now has significant new upgrades:
- A feature called “Actions” will allow the AI chatbot to make decisions for you, especially when completing uncomplicated tasks behind the scenes. And to further elevate its advantageous angle, it’ll be able to coordinate and collaborate with websites such as Booking.com and TripAdvisor.
- Copilot Vision is a fun but unexpected new upgrade for your phone camera. By letting your camera collect information from things around you, it’ll be able to gauge in-depth details about the object.
- A Memory feature, like ChatGPT and Gemini. This will allow the model to retain tidbits about the user, such as favorite food and other preferences. It can now curate personalized solutions and recommendations and schedule timely reminders. Users can also control which type of information they want Copilot to store.
- Pages – This will allow you to segregate and collate the chaotic thoughts and make sense of them. In simple words, this cool new feature will collect all your notes and research. It will additionally put all of it together in a canvas as a draft so the user can make final edits.
- Copilot will be able to collate audio information together to form Podcasts, which users can smoothly access. But, the information will be strictly personalized so it aligns with the users’ preferences.
- In another twist, Microsoft has embedded a shopping feature as well. AI chatbots helping users shop isn’t new, but surprisingly, the tech giant is hopping on this trend. Copilot will now be able to give the users shopping advice and even compare different products. But there’s a minute aspect of this feature that stands out – the chatbot will alert you regarding price drops and complete the purchase from the app itself.
- And lastly, deep research. This update is significant for those who want in-depth research on a topic done efficiently on the user’s behalf.
This is a crucial step forward as Copilot is now optimized to help users with day-to-day tasks. If not now, in the upcoming years, the upgraded version could get more nuanced.
And this is the direction that we hope tech innovations take – one that promises a future of convenience and comfort.
